Environment admin
An environment admin is responsible for configuring the Enterprise Hub. Environment admins perform actions such as:
- Configuring API discovery mechanisms such as categories, collections, and tags
- Setting up user login options
- Creating and managing roles and permissions
- Viewing audit trails and APIs.
- Impersonating users for support and debugging purposes
Organization admin
Within the RapidAPI Enterprise Hub, you can have multiple organizations. Each organization will have one or more organization admins, who are in charge of managing users and teams within the organization, approving API publishing requests, customizing the organization homepage, and more.
Developer
A Developer is a type of user who will be searching for APIs with advanced searching and filtering, consuming APIs through the API listings, and monitoring their usage with the Developer Dashboard.
Provider
A Provider is a type of user who will be listing APIs created by their team. These users will be using the Provider Dashboard to manage their API listings. They can automate listing their API with OpenAPI document file uploads, add plans and pricing to their API, and monitor usage with API analytics and transactions.
A user can be both a developer consuming APIs and a provider creating APIs.
API gateway
An API gateway is the programming element that orchestrates and coordinates how various requests are processed in a microservices architecture. RapidAPI has a lightweight API gateway available for customers or we can integrate into your existing API gateways by using our API Gateway Plugins.
RapidAPI Gateway Plugin
The RapidAPI Gateway Plugin works by communicating with the gateway's admin API to provision required objects as well as forward logs back to the RapidAPI Enterprise Hub.
